This was a personal project that lead to something much bigger. This originally was a design project to illustrate a deck of cards. The design started with a logo, then sketches of the cards that developed that concept, and thus ended up being an ensemble of something very strange and otherworldly. After the cards were printed, I wanted my own deck. I am constantly trying to make my designs into reality, but there are things you can’t print at home. It is incredibly costly to produce a prototype just because you want your own deck of cards. I ended up printed them with a custom box and they are my go-to deck. As happy as I was, it didn’t stop there. Later I developed poker chips, several different designs and I ended up buying prototypes of those. That was great, but what if I designed a game based on the deck. That happened, developing a game called “Silo” that became loads of fun and something really special to me. I obviously couldn’t stop there. As of writing this, I started a Kickstarter to really continue the projects growth.

This set of poker cards, or rather Silo cards, is inspired by an aesthetic that really inspires me and takes me out of where I am, and puts me somewhere else. Perhaps it will do the same for you. I find myself at a farm, gambling under the roof of a barn when I see these cards. It brings me out west on a dusty day in a desert where the heat has caused me to start seeing things.

Another inspiration of mine when creating these cards was from the novel "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. It's typically a required book to be read in school and for good reason, there are many underlying themes that can be directly attributed to today's society. Not to get political, but it really helped me personify the animals in the cards.

The poker chips are ceramic 1.69 inches wide, with full custom print. There are many designs other than the 4 chips that were included in my prototype. They feel extremely solid and are very high quality. The options are 300 chips to 500 chips. The 20 chip is subject to change to cow-utters.
